The Country Manager is the senior executive responsible for the strategic direction, operational execution, and sustainable growth of the company's business within the country. This role holds full P&L accountability and provides visionary leadership across all functions including operations, commercial development, finance, people, and customer success. The Country Manager partners closely with regional and global leadership to align local execution with broader corporate objectives, drive innovation, and ensure operational excellence and long-term market competitiveness

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic Leadership & P&L Ownership

  • Provide overall strategic leadership for the country, translating global goals into actionable local strategies and performance outcomes.
  • Own full P&L responsibility, ensuring revenue growth, margin optimization, and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Identify new market segments, strategic partnerships, and business development opportunities to drive expansion and competitive advantage.
  • Lead country-level participation in regional and global transformation initiatives, M&A integration, and change management programs.

2. Executive Business Operations Oversight

  • Oversee the end-to-end value chain including warehousing, distribution, supply chain, and logistics operations. Ensuring alignment with global standards and customer requirements.
  • Champion digital transformation by leveraging data, automation, and advanced technologies (e.g., WMS, TMS) to improve visibility, efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Set and monitor high-performance benchmarks for service delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance.

3. Executive Reporting & Governance

  • Deliver strategic and operational updates to executive leadership, including monthly and quarterly business reviews, forecasts, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure robust governance frameworks are in place for operational controls, financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and ESG standards.

4. Leadership Development & Organizational Culture

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Shape organizational design to support scalability, succession planning, and long-term talent sustainability.
  • Act as a cultural ambassador, ensuring strong alignment with global values and leadership behaviors.

5. Client Engagement & Commercial Growth

  • Serve as the executive sponsor for strategic clients, ensuring high-level relationship management and resolution of complex escalations.
  • Drive account growth through cross-functional collaboration with sales, marketing, and product teams to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Strengthen market positioning through active representation in industry associations, government bodies, and public forums.

6. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive a culture of operational excellence, utilizing KPIs, Lean methodologies, Six Sigma principles, and benchmarking to enhance performance.
  • Implement continuous improvement programs focused on cost optimization, service level enhancement, and customer satisfaction.

7. Financial Stewardship & Resource Optimization

  • Oversee country-level budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to maximize ROI.
  • Proactively identify cost-saving initiatives and productivity gains without compromising service excellence.
  • Collaborate with finance and global procurement teams to ensure rigorous vendor and contract management.

8. Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with all local laws, regulatory requirements, and global standards (e.g., safety, environmental, ethical business practices).
  • Lead proactive risk management and crisis response planning, ensuring business continuity and reputational protection.

9. Stakeholder Alignment & Internal Communications

  • Serve as the primary interface between country operations and corporate HQ/regional leadership, ensuring effective two-way communication and alignment.
  • Champion transparent communication, fostering strong engagement with internal and external stakeholders across all levels.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Logistics / 3PL / Supply Chain management, including at least 5 years in a senior country or regional role.
  • Strong P&L management experience and proven track record of delivering financial results.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain, warehousing, distribution, quality control, and cost management.
  • Proficiency in logistics management systems (e.g., WMS, TMS) and digital transformation tools.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex, and cross-border environment.
