What You'll Do
As Director of Procurement, you will play a central role in shaping the organisation's sourcing strategy while fostering strong relationships with suppliers in China.

  • Drive strategic sourcing activities by negotiating with suppliers to achieve annual material cost reductions while maintaining product quality.
  • Conduct detailed cost breakdowns for all key purchases and run structured supplier RFQs to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Maintain and expand a dependable supplier network in Guangdong, collaborating effectively with contract manufacturers and suppliers to meet delivery targets.
  • Monitor supplier on-time delivery rates and proactively address any quality issues to uphold stringent standards across the supply chain.
  • Oversee purchasing execution by ensuring timely procurement of raw materials and components within budget constraints, coordinating closely with planning and production teams.
  • Manage stock planning processes to optimise inventory levels, minimise expedited orders, and prevent overstock situations through accurate forecasting.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a procurement team of 3–5 members by assigning clear responsibilities, setting KPIs, and conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Instil a cost control mindset throughout the procurement function by tracking bill of materials costs, identifying savings opportunities, flagging overspends, and driving renegotiations as needed.
  • Evaluate supplier performance monthly using scorecards and dashboards; mitigate risks through dual sourcing strategies for critical parts.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing procurement processes regularly and implementing enhancements based on data-driven insights.

What You Bring
Your fluency in Mandarin and English allows you to bridge cultural gaps while facilitating seamless communication between stakeholders. Your proven background as Director of Procurement will be evident through your deep understanding of strategic sourcing principles combined with hands-on experience managing complex supplier networks in China.

  • Hands-on leadership experience overseeing a team of 3–5 buyers or procurement professionals within a fast-moving environment.
  • Extensive experience managing China-based procurement operations, particularly with suppliers and contract manufacturers located in Guangdong province.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost negotiation with the ability to break down complex cost structures and consistently deliver annual savings across multiple categories.
  • Proven track record of executing on-time purchasing processes with minimal need for urgent interventions or firefighting measures.
  • Ability to instil a cost control mindset throughout the procurement function by tracking BOM costs against plan and proactively identifying savings opportunities.
  • Experience developing dual sourcing strategies for critical parts to mitigate supply risks while maintaining performance standards.
  • Competence in using supplier scorecards, dashboards, or other analytical tools for monthly performance evaluations.
