The Role:
We are hiring a principal scientist, solution design, for our global CMP technology and formulation team. This position is based at KSP-N, TW, and will lead formulation and technology development in a global team.
In this role you will:
- Align technology roadmap with chief solution designers and lead the execution of technology roadmaps of the respective application area with support from SME scientists and/or platform scientists
- Lead product platform design for cutting edge CMP slurry/cleanse formulations with alignment with chief solution designers and business team
- Identify and lead knowledge-build projects to deepen understanding on formulation mechanism and performance tuning knobs
- Interact with global chief solution designers to support TW customer engagement. Present technical exchange materials to TW customers with alignment with chief solution designer and business team.
- Guide and mentor junior scientists on product development, experimental designs and technology development projects
- Generate technical documents on new technologies including IP filing
- Provide inputs for new chemicals and particles to enable functional design in formulation space
- Collaborate with internal team to identify new chemicals/particles/capabilities that could enable new technology or deepen knowledge build
- Present in internal and external technical exchange meetings within RD and sharing key learnings with key stakeholders regularly
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
- Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a Ph.D. with 5 years experience; in semiconductor industry
- Proven CMP formulation development experiences with understanding of design of experiments, CMP mechanisms, product experiences and six-sigma
- Problem solver and being able to solve complex problems leveraging skills such as data analysis, root-cause analysis, design of experiments, design thinking skills
- Experience in innovation implementation and documentation, such as being an inventor on IP
- Proven record of effective project leadership including setting goals, planning, prioritizing, and executing research and balancing multiple activities within a project team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated effective communication, both written and verbally, with management or executives, and customer representatives.
- Propose and lead safety initiatives to promote safety-first culture.
Your success will be measured by:
- Submission of innovation disclosure documents (IRD) or innovation recognition forms
- Success development of key components that enables differentiating performance in formulation, such as new chemicals or particles
- Understanding of key mechanisms with experimental or theoretical supporting evidence
- Key data to support a go/no go decision for tech dev or NPD projects
- Successfully launching a new production platform to solve a technical issue in market
